  • Take-out trade increasingly important for bakers and confectioners 13 The globalized world of snacks at iba

◎ iba showcases the best ideas for tasty and healthy snacks
◎ The demand for snack ranges is growing
◎ Everything for business success in the take-out trade: ingredients, technology, shop fitting and coffee

Munich, 16.9.2009 – Spinach and ricotta savouries, turkey and vegetable pastries and mozzarella and balsamic panini – for some time now there has been strong competition to the classic sandwich. It is now hard to imagine bakers and confectioners not supplying a wide range of high-quality snacks in addition to their basic range. The considerably larger range of products on offer at iba this year makes it clear how important this take-out segment is. Trade visitors can find out all about it over seven days from 3 to 9 October.

Bakers and confectioners offer their customers just the right take-out snacks for any time of day – perhaps a pretzel with a cappuccino in the morning, a sandwich with apple spritzer at lunchtime or an almond croissant with coffee in the afternoon. They ensure there is a healthy and seasonal range for every consumer preference, and iba shows what variations are possible in a take-out range. Bakers and confectioners are given tips as to how fresh fruit and vegetables ideally supplement the range of bagels, wraps and muffins. But more is needed. In addition to snacks, customers also want a wide range
of soft beverages and hot drinks such as coffee. Trade visitors can get right-up-to-date with coffee machines, roasting machines and accessories at the special exhibition in Hall 11 on ‘Coffee, Espresso and Baristas’. Just as important as a wide and varied selection of
beverages and food is the latest generation of refrigeration and cooling technology, where manufacturers are focusing on energy efficiency in particular. In view of rising operating costs, advice on state-of-the-art technology is worth its weight in gold for every trade visitor, and iba is the place to find out more about the priceperformance
ratio of the machines by speaking directly to representatives at the company stands. Unlike the Internet, there is no problem in getting quick answers to any queries here. To make shopping an enjoyable experience for customers, it is increasingly important for shop interiors to coordinate with and adapt to the constant change in the range of goods. Over 40 national and international shop fitters at the international trade fair will be presenting ideas to small and medium-sized businesses on how to implement their personal wishes and requirements in sales counters and seating.

    iba
This autumn iba is celebrating its 60th anniversary. The trade fair takes place every three years, alternating between the exhibition centres in Munich and Düsseldorf. The broad spectrum of products and services covered by this leading world fair is divided into the three main sections of Raw Materials, Production Technology and Sales. Within these areas a wide diversity of products is presented: from ingredients, bakery aids and semi-finished products to small- and large-scale machinery such as baking ovens and all the interior fittings needed for baking businesses, cafés and pastry shops. The World Market for Baking encompasses all the products and technologies that are relevant to the day-to-day operations of bakers and confectioners.
